Install Japanese text on Windows XP

 

 

First... download and install the Japanese IME right here:  imejpn.exe

You might need your Windows XP CD for the next part.

 

Second... Click Start-->Settings-->Control Panel. Once you're in Control Panel, open (double-click) Regional and Language Options...

 

Then, click on the Languages tab...You'll get a window similar to the following:
Whether you check both of the two boxes here depends on what your personal preferences are, but you definitely must check the one labeled "Install files for East Asian languages"... then click Apply

 

When that's done, click on Details

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then click Language Bar and check the boxes below

 

 

The Language Bar looks like this:

When you are in Microsoft Word, you can use the Language Bar to set the input to Hiragana.

You might have to play with it a bit to get the hang of it.

If you don't want the text converted to katakana or kanji, you can keep the hiragana by pressing ENTER instead of SPACE
